I Was Cold

By: ladyhawk

I was cold

I went outside and stood in the sun

but the sun went down

when the day was done.

I sat by a fire stoked to roar

but I burnt all the wood

and there was no more.

I piled on clothing from top to toe

but I felt like a clown

in a circus show.

I jumped up and down and ran around

but I grew tired

and fell to the ground.

Shivering, I looked up to God above

He sent me you

and showed me love.

Now I am warm.
