Self

By: Aristeia

Don’t put me down,

‘Cause I can’t get back up,

I’m not that strong, can’t not drown,

I’m still drinking from your cup,

Filled with your illusion,

I feel full, but told to me,

You’re just full on confusion,

Come with me, and drink my special tea,

Don’t ya wanna be free, free to decide?

I can’t break the mold,

Why can’t you just see through my pride?

I feel my curse, a comin’ back ten fold,

I’m startin’ anew, and with a most possible beau,

But each time I start to run and hide,

Making it all seem so low,

Want to just put my head deep down inside,

Help me feel better?

Don’t just put me off to the side,

I hear it now, my eyes are getting wetter,

You just don’t see things like I do,

Behind the guise,

But I do,

From sunset to sunrise,

I see my flaws,

Like a swan in the dark end of the lake,

I realize how deep, is this clause,

And how real the sun is when its kisses bake,

So please, just don’t put me down, I can’t get back up,

So instead I’ll turn and crawl away
