Keflex

By: jade

Bits and pieces

of the apple I've gorged myself on

rot inside my stomach

and fall away

how deep this rabbit hole?

Planes circle overhead

I swat at them

mosquitos buzz in my ears

paranoia floats on the wings of an angel

as i sit in the corner

knees pressed to chest; head buried between them

fingers digging into palms

singing myself a song

how lovely your garden grows

rain-splahed mud upon green leaves

the shadows that rob the light

have turned all the colours away

marching them out - pied piper of hue

these walls marble and granite

these walls cement and steel

these walls paper and glue

no shelter from the burning bush

no shelter from the midnight stars

the innkeepers have turned the infants away

in favour of the whores

whose dance and song has evolved

to reside betwixt the seventh sign

and with seven flights and seven curses cry:

these walls come tumbling down

these walls come tumbling down

these walls tumble down at my feet.
