Teenage Bitterness

By: MidnightBlaze

Mention a gun in school, I dare you

Or perhaps anthrax, if that floats your boat

Can we fear just a little bit more?

For God's sake, I think you're paranoid

You can take all of your what if's

I prefer to live in the present

You say I'm bitter

You would be too, if you lived with what I do

Crawl inside this skin and walk around for a while

See where it gets you

Maybe I'm just a teenager

And maybe I'm a little naive

But I see what's in front of me

And it's nothing but crap

The government can kill innocent people

Cuz suddenly two wrongs make a right

And a man with an addiction and a cracker-jack degree

Is suddenly the man I have to respect

Respect is earned, not dished out to anyone with a title

Prove it to me, and I'll believe you

School shootings, gay bashings, fake terrorism

I blame it on the media

When all we see is death and violence

What else can be returned?

Don’t blame your children

For the mistakes of the adults

It may take a village,

But the kids still wind up with serious malfunctions

I should know

I’m one of them
