Innocence

By: Stranger1984

As I stare out my window,

I see the virgin white of freshly fallen snow,

And it reminds me of friends,

Past and Present,

I remember trials and Tears,

And the pain of lost innocence.

Innocence stolen by disease,

Innoncence stolen by love,

Innocence stolen by fear,

and Innocence stolen by addiction.

The joyous innocence that we all had as children,

The innocence that made that sick world seem perfect,

The innocence that was torn from us,

And we learned of the grim, cold heartedness of life.

But as I stare out my window,

I wonder why,

And then I see it's pure beauty,

The vast, somber beauty,

And I realize that just as the snow disappears,

So too will the pain and loss,

And we'll exit this cruel world as innocently as we had entered.
