Estrangement

By: Kitsune

I place my hand on your shoulder

It burns with the numbness of ice

I see only your profile or your dark hair

Someone has come and stolen your voice

The sun beats in my window at an unnatural angle

I am confined behind my door

Outside lays treacherous ground

Even the air is sunk with heavy thoughts

I can't breathe there, so I sit in here, alone

It's not so bad, I've kept my company for a long time

But you were always on the other line, ready to escape

So close, it tears us ever apart

The question lies in my mind, Should I leave

Only honor and a given word binds me

And loneliness shall truly own me

All bridges have turned to ash

Would I follow, for lack of anything to do

It chases my thoughts on razor edge

Internal bleeding, invisible wounds

Just another one, no big deal

The last badge of courage

I never cared for red, black is my choice

Black for the night, for thinking, for actions...

Never taken.
