Marriage

By: Teddy

Marriage is waking up one morning

Only to find that

You've forgotten how to give.

You knew how all your life.

It was always so easy,

Like breathing clean, pure air.

What could have happened to make you forget?

Giving becomes a stranger

When you begin to give it

Only if it is earned.

No one can always earn it

But if you really love them

Then they always deserve it.

Giving is a funny little thing;

You do it a little, you feel a little better.

Do it a lot, and you feel a lot better.

Do it not at all, and watch happiness die.

Marriage is taking your spouse's hand

And together learning how to give again.
