Missing Girl

By: DrippingTime

You come from a small town

Far from corrupted city lights

And polluted city skies

Far from hiding predators

All the doors remain unlocked

All the guns remain uncocked

We barely hear from you

But every now and then again

I see one of you on Channel Ten

Crying in your naive, confused

Small town policies and views

Talking how this should only

Happen in the city

(How many more

before you answer

for yourself?)

Who's gonna shelter you?

Who will protect you?

Whats going to satisfy your fear?

So they laid you to sleep

Tucked you in all nice and tight

Wouldnt leave on the hallway light

Is that rain beating on the window?

Or just a branch from the tree?

If only you werent paralyzed in fear

You might peek out to see

But its too late

Theyve already taken you

With mom and dad

Sleeping in the next room

Who will protect you?

Who will shelter you?

Whats going to satisfy your fear?

Bars on the windows

And chains on the doors

Nothing will satisfy

I cant live like this anymore
